Cavemen Face 2nd Ranked Barlow & Other Local Basketball Action
The Grants Pass Caveman are on the road again this Friday and Saturday as they participate in the Barlow Trail basketball tournament in Gresham. Grants Pass has the formidable task of taking on the host team, the number two ranked team in the state on their home floor in the feature game Friday night. The Bruins are 2 and 0 and have three division one prospects on the team. The Cavemen are 2 and 1 so far and have some minor injuries that may have an impact. Junior Grady McKittrick and Sophomore Jordan Rossetta status will likely be a game time decision. In the tournament’s second round the Cavemen will face either Tualatin or Grant on Saturday at a time yet to be determined.

In other Friday night action the Hidden Valley Mustangs will host Marshfield, North Valley’s Knights will host Siuslaw and Rogue River will host Glide in the first round of the Rogue River Class

Cavemen Post 2nd Win, Tuesday Night Basketball Scores
The Crater Comets, who had impressive early season wins over South Medford and Roseburg, fell to the Grants Pass Cavemen 70 to 46 at Heater Newman gym last night. The Comets averaged 63 points in their first two outings. The Cavemen are now 2 and 1 on the young season with a win over Lincoln High School in Portland and a loss to Benson Tech. The Cavemen are again headed north for their next game in the opening round of the Barlow Tournament against the host team Friday night at 7:00 p.m. They’ll face an as yet to be determined opponent early Saturday in the second round.

In other action last night the North Valley boys edged Bandon by three 45 to 42. In other 3A action Camas Valley edged Rogue River 52 to 49 and at the 2A level the Illinois Valley Cougars lost on the road to Days Creek 58 to 54.

Cavemen Host Comets in only December Home Game
Tonight is your only chance to see the Grants Pass Cavemen Basketball team in action at Heater-Newman gym this month. The Cavemen host the Crater Comets with the tip off slated for 6:45. Crater has two wins so far in the young season, a 3-point victory over South Medford and a win in Roseburg by 17 points.

In other boys action tonight the North Valley Knights are hosting Bandon at 7:30, Illinois Valley is on the road at Days Creek and Rogue River is at Camas Valley.

In Girls basketball the Lady Mustangs of Hidden Valley are on the road facing Cottage Grove.

Caveman football coach Brad Page has resigned after leading the GP gridiron program for three years. According to the Daily Courier Page resigned to focus on his young family. Page leaves following his most successful season when the Cavemen posted a 6 and 5 winning season and made the quarterfinals of the 6 A second-tier post season tournamen

Caveman Basketball Jamboree Wednesday Night at Heater-Newman
Fans get their first look at the latest edition of the Grants Pass Cavemen basketball team Wednesday night at Heater-Newman Gym when the Cavemen host their own jamboree featuring the Ashland Grizzlies and the Cascade Christian Challengers.

The ball is scheduled to tip at 7:00 p.m. with the Cavemen and Grizzlies squaring off for a quarter followed by the Grizzlies taking on the Challengers for a quarter. The final quarter of the night features again the host Cavemen facing the Challengers.

Cavemen Well Represented on All-Conference-Teams
The Grants Pass Cavemen were well represented on the South Central All Conference Teams announced Tuesday night. Conner Johnston led the Cavemen with first team honors on both offense as a tight end and on defense as a lineman. Tim Hart was also named to both offense and defense honorable mentions, as a receiver on offense and on the defensive line.

Other awards included Nate Bassett as a 1st team defensive back. Recieveing Hnorable mentions were Brayden Carlson on the defensive line, Braeden Reese as a linebacker, Kingston Connelly and Zach Dechenne as defensive backs and Parker Roberts as punter.

Named to the 1st Team offense was Sophomore quarterback Jordan Rossetta and receiver Isaac Johnson.
