DeLaGrange & Allen Honored by U of O
The "Voice of the Ducks" and student-athletes from football and women's soccer have been selected to receive the University of Oregon Athletic Department's distinguished alumni awards, athletic director Rob Mullens announced Monday. Jerry Allen, who has been announcing games on the Oregon Sports Network since 1985, is synonymous with "The Pick" – his enthusiastic call of Kenny Wheaton's program-altering, 1994 interception against Washington. Allen is the recipient of the 2025 Order of the O honorarium. Offensive lineman Michael DeLaGrange has been named the recipient of the 2025 Leo Harris Award, while soccer goalkeeper Sarah Peters has been chosen to receive the 2025 Becky L. Sisley Award. Nuggets Drop Season Ending Twin Bill-Eliminated from Post Season
The Grants Pass Nuggets finished up the summer last night with an Area 4 doubleheader against the Eugene Challengers. The Nuggets came up on the wrong side of both ends of the doubleheader losing game 1, 6 to 5 and dropping the nightcap, 7 to 1. Jace McGowen led Grants Pass with 3 hits on the night, while Cole Carnes added 2 hits and 3 runs batted in. The Medford Mustangs finished with a 12 and 4 conference record atop the Area 4 standings. Roseburg is 2nd at 9 and 7. The possibility of a three way tie for 3rd and extend the season existed going into last night’s action. The Eugene sweep eliminated the Nuggets. Redmond split with Medford last night giving Redmond a 7 and 9 record while giving the 8 and 8 Eugene team 3rd in conference and a play-in game Wednesday against Dallas.

GP Nuggets Drop a Pair to Mustangs
The Grants Pass Nuggets dropped both games of a double header last night and at Agnew Lytel Field to the Medford Mustangs.

The Nuggets dropped the first game 9 to 7 and were shut out in the nightcap 12 to nothing. That drops their record to 9-3 & 1.

The Nuggets next action is on the road as they head north Friday for a single game against the Dallas Dirt Bags. Then Saturday its back home for two games against the Portland Merchants with the first pitch slated to fly at 2 p.m.

Nuggets & Mustangs Split 1st league Action
The Grants Pass Nuggets split a double header with the Medford Mustangs Monday night losing the first game 10 to nothing. Mustang’s pitcher Dominic Daffron limited Nugget hitters to just two hits, striking out 4 while walking three. He pitched the entire five innings.

The Nuggets bounced back in game two when their bats came alive and generated 8 hits to produce a five to four victory. Logan Zavolta got the Nugget win going six innings, allowing just one run on three hits, striking out two while not issuing a walk.

Nuggets Champs of Jeff Dahl Tournament
The Grants Pass Nuggets beat the Reno Knights 4 to 1 to win the championship of the 28th annual Jeff Dahl Father’s Day Tournament yesterday afternoon. Jace McGowen and Ben Morgan had 2 hits apiece and Nate Bassett homered, while Cam Holland threw six innings, scattering 3 hits and striking out 5 to earn the win on the mound.

The Nuggets are closer to home tonight when they play the Mustangs in Medford for two games. First Pitch is at 5 p.m. The next home game for the Nuggets is June 24th when they’ll host the Mustangs for a twin bill that starts at five.

A Double Header Sweep for Nuggets Baseball to Open the Season!
The Grants Pass Nuggets took 2 wins on opening night last night! Jack Matthew started game one and threw 4 1/3 great innings only giving up 3 hits while striking out 4. Jedidiah Robertson closed the door going 2 2/3 innings and allowed no runs! Dane Kissel, and Alijah Zauher both drove in a run. Wylie Mendes and Erick Pezqueda each drove in 2 runs and Cole Carnes drove in 3! Game two saw Bayden Morris toss 4 scoreless innings while striking out 4. The Grants Pass Nuggets American Legion baseball team opens their 2025 season Thursday night with a double header as they host the Southern Oregon baseball team in Reinhart Volunteer Park. The first pitch flies at 5:00 p.m. with the second game scheduled tentatively for 7:00 p.m.

Rookie Ely wins Boatnik Hydroplane Race
The Tom Rice Memorial White Water Hydroplane race was a two story event with a rookie winning and 70 percent attrition rate. 17-year-old Houston Ely, in his first race at this level, out pointed the field that was shortened to six finishers out of 23 that initially registered for the race. The total finishes of the four legs are totaled and the lowest number wins. Ely finished 3rd, 1st, 2nd and 2nd for a total 8 points in a close race with Drew Dechenne.Dechenne 4th, 3rd, 1st and 1st for a total of 9 and tookd 2nd place in spite of crossing the final finish line first. 007, piloted by Jeff Lewis was third
