Search for Fugitive Required Lock-Ins at Hidden Valley and Woodland Schools
A heavy law enforcement presence in the Murphy area forced a "lock-in" at Hidden Valley High and Woodland Charter schools on Wednesday.
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office reported deputies were looking for a fugitive in the area.
Sheriff's officials said there was no known threat to the schools, but deputies requested staff keep students inside the buildings during the search as a safety precaution. They also temporarily shut down roads in the area.
The Sheriff's Office posted a 4:15 p.m. update that students had been released from the schools and all roads were back open. It said the unidentified subject was still at large, but he was not believed to be a danger to the public.
