Two rollover crashes within 15 minutes of each other had rescue crews scrambling in different directions on Thursday afternoon.

Rural Metro Fire Department reports the first incident occurred when a driver who experienced what may have been a mechanical problem with their vehicle crashed on Wildrose Lane near Cloverlawn Drive.

Officials said the vehicle rolled over and crashed into a utility box, sparking a fire with the driver reportedly trapped inside. Upon arrival, rescue crews discovered the driver had self-extricated and denied having any injuries. The fire was very small and easily extinguished. Pacific Power crews secured the utility box.

The second incident happened when additional rescue crews were mobilized to a rollover crash in the 5400-block of Riverbanks Road. Arriving units found all the occupants had self-extricated and denied any injuries.

Evidently, the driver experienced a temporary medical condition that caused the passenger to grab the wheel.

Officials said seatbelt use was instrumental in the lack of injuries in both cases.
