Fuel Tanker Truck Overturned on I-5 near Wolf Creek Prompting Cleanup Effort
A fuel tanker truck rolled over early yesterday on Interstate 5 near Wolf Creek, prompting a long-term cleanup effort by the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Rural Metro Fire Department reports firefighters responded to the incident in the northbound lanes of I-5 near milepost 78.5 early Monday morning.
Rural Metro officials said the overturned tanker was leaking fuel and the driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Firefighters worked to contain the fuel runoff and prevent ignition. One lane was shut down and delays were expected throughout the day.
ODOT crews arrived on scene and took over cleanup of the spilled fuel.
Rural Metro was released, but the Wolf Creek Rural Fire Protection District and Glendale Fire Department remained on scene for fire standby.
