GP Emergency Communications Center Received Over 1,200 Calls before July 4th

The Grants Pass 9-1-1 Communications Center fielded more than 1,200 emergency calls for local first responders even before record-setting summer heat on July 4th.

According to the 9-1-1 Dispatch Center's weekly post on Facebook, dispatchers received a total of 1,218 emergency calls between June 27th and July 3rd.

The Grants Pass Police Department led the way with 969 calls followed by American Medical Response with 290 and Grants Pass Fire & Rescue with 131.

Rural Metro Fire Department received 51 calls, Illinois Valley Fire District received 33, the Oregon Department of Forestry received 27, and both the Wolf Creek and Williams Rural Fire Protection Districts got nine.

The local 9-1-1 agency also reported receiving 498 internal phone calls and making 512 outbound calls.
