GP Police Collared Man on Warrant after He Displayed Machete at Taco Bell

Grants Pass Police arrested a man on a local warrant after he displayed a machete at a local fast food restaurant yesterday.

According to the Police Department, officers responded to the incident at the Taco Bell on NE Terry Lane on Thursday at 1:14 p.m..

Police said a Taco Bell employee called 9-1-1 to report that a male subject pulled out a machete and started screaming. The caller said the man was not threatening anyone and he quickly put the weapon away. He exited the restaurant and walked across the street to the Arco AM/PM store.

Officers contacted the 41-year-old man there and discovered that he had been in a fight with someone recently, but left the scene before the arrival of police. They also learned that he was wanted on a Grants Pass warrant for failing to appear in court for Disorderly Conduct.

The suspect was lodged at the Josephine County Jail on the warrant. He was also trespassed from Taco Bell and Applebee's. The machete was seized, but a backpack and other personal items were logged into evidence for safekeeping.
