Central Point Man Killed in Weekend Crash on Highway 62 in Jackson County

A Central Point man was killed and a Shady Cove woman was injured in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 62 last weekend.

The Oregon State Police reports troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision near milepost 17 of Crater Lake Highway on Saturday shortly after 5 p.m..

State troopers said a preliminary investigation indicated a Subaru WRX driven by 26-year-old Corey Hanley of Central Point was traveling west on the highway when it went out of control and swerved into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a Subaru Crosstrek driven by 80-year-old Barbara Badger of Shady Cove.

According to OSP, Hanley was transported to a local hospital where he was later declared deceased. Badger was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Highway 62 was impacted for approximately two hours while the on-scene investigation was conducted.

OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Fire District, Mercy Flights Ambulance and Oregon Department of Transportation.
