Deputies Collared Man on Felony Warrant after Responding to Disturbance near GP
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office jailed a man on a local felony warrant after responding to a reported disturbance just east of Grants Pass.
The Sheriff's Office reports deputies arrested 61-year-old Jerry Don Shirley when they responded to the incident in the 2800-block of Foothill Boulevard on Sunday shortly after 11 a.m..
Deputies said Shirley and one of his neighbors have had a history of arguments over a dog. They said the suspect was armed with a pistol when they arrived on scene, but no shots were fired and no one was hurt. After speaking with both parties, it was evident that neither had enough evidence to support an arrest.
However, a routine records check revealed that Shirley was wanted on a Grants Pass felony warrant for charges including Felony 3rd-Degree Assault, Felony Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Reckless Driving.
Jerry Shirley was placed into custody and transported to the Josephine County Jail where he was lodged on the warrant.
