Animal Control Seized Dog for Biting Child on Westholm Avenue in SW GP

Animal control officers from the Josephine County Sheriff's Office seized a dog from its owner after the animal allegedly bit a child in a southwest neighborhood.

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office reports animal control responded to the incident in the 700-block of SW Westholm Avenue in Grants Pass on Thursday at about 4 p.m..

Deputies said a woman called 9-1-1 to report the family dog had bitten a child on the back of the neck. Fortunately, the boy was not seriously hurt and no medical attention was required.

According to the report, the suspect dog is a 4-year-old female pit bull mix. It was loaded into a service vehicle and transported to the Animal Control Shelter where it was impounded and placed under quarantine.

The dog's owner -- who was not identified -- was cited to appear in court for the unspecified violation.
