Deputies Arrested Man for Vehicle Theft after Weekend Stop on Highway 199
The Josephine County Sheriff's Office arrested a man for vehicle theft during a weekend traffic stop on Redwood Highway near the Applegate River.
The Sheriff's Office reports deputies pulled over a vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man near the intersection of US Highway 199 and Riverbanks Road on Saturday shortly after 2 p.m..
Deputies said they were on patrol when they spotted the vehicle that had been reported stolen from a man living on Camp Joy Road. Following the traffic stop, they detained the suspect and then placed him into custody after it was confirmed that the vehicle was still reported as stolen.
The suspect was lodged at the Josephine County Jail for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle was towed into Grants Pass and the registered owner was advised of its recovery.
