GP Police Nabbed Motorist for DUII & More after Multiple Saturday Crashes

Grants Pass Police arrested a motorist for impaired driving and more after he crashed into a stop sign and two parked vehicles in the downtown area over the weekend.

The Police Department reports a fellow motorist first called in the suspect as a traffic complaint at the intersection of 6th and A streets on Saturday at 2:40 p.m..

Police said the caller reported a male driver in a Chevrolet Silverado was unable to maintain a single travel lane and they believed he might be impaired. The caller's suspicions were confirmed when the driver took out a stop sign and crashed into a parked vehicle after turning west onto SW K Street near Rogue Roasters.

A male passenger reportedly exited the suspect vehicle and fled on foot for safety as the driver continued driving west on K Street before he struck another parked vehicle near the corner of SW Alder and J streets. He was eventually stopped by law enforcement at the corner of G and High streets.

The 30-year-old suspect was subsequently lodged at the Josephine County Jail for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving and three counts of Hit-and-Run Causing Property Damage. He was being held without bail and his vehicle was impounded.
