Motorist Ejected and Hurt after Collision with Truck near Fish Hatchery Park

The driver of a pickup was ejected and injured late yesterday after colliding with another truck pulling a livestock trailer near Fish Hatchery Park.

Rural Metro Fire Department and American Medical Response were dispatched to the two-vehicle crash in the 2600-block of Fish Hatchery Road on Wednesday at 5:51 p.m..

Rural Metro officials said the ejected driver ended up in the ditch under the rear axles of the trailer and was reported to be trapped as rescue crews arrived on scene. It was later determined the driver was only hung up by an article of clothing that was cut away to complete the extrication without having to move the trailer.

The unidentified driver was transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. The other driver was not injured. The livestock trailer was loaded with 10 dogs, but none of the dogs were hurt.

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office was investigating the cause of the crash.

Coincidentally, the crash occurred in nearly the same location as a March 20th rollover crash that injured the driver and sheared off a power pole. Many of the same neighbors assisted emergency crews in both incidents.
