OSP Collared Convicted Sex Offender after Interstate 5 Crash in Grants Pass

The Oregon State Police apprehended a convicted sex offender this week after responding to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 5 in northeast Grants Pass.

OSP reports troopers investigated a crash in the northbound lanes of I-5 near milepost 54 on Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers said the investigation indicates a Chrysler 300 driven by 45-year-old Shannon Johannsen-Pompa of Medford was traveling too fast for the conditions, lost control and hydroplaned into the median barrier. No injuries were reported and the damaged car was hauled into Grants Pass by 3 Boys Classic Towing.

According to OSP, a passenger in the vehicle -- 56-year-old Sean Matthew Collins -- was discovered to be out of compliance with his sex offender registration. He was placed into custody and lodged without bail at the Josephine County Jail.
