OSP Arrested 4 Motorists for DUII Over the Weekend in Josephine County

The Oregon State Police arrested four motorists for impaired driving over the weekend in Josephine County.

According to OSP, the first incident occurred on Saturday at 10:56 p.m. when troopers pulled over a Ford F-150 pickup driven by 44-year-old Trenton Lee Thompson on Williams Highway near Torrey Pines Road. Troopers said they stopped Thompson for a traffic violation and he displayed signs of impairment. He refused to participate in field sobriety tests, so he was taken to the Grants Pass Sobering Center where he provided a breath sample that exceeded the legal driving limit. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and his pickup was impounded.

The second incident happened on Saturday at midnight when troopers pulled over a Cadillac Escalade driven by 36-year-old Kendall Dawn Knox at the intersection of Redwood Avenue and Hubbard Lane. Troopers said they stopped Knox for multiple traffic violations and she exhibited signs of impairment. After performing poorly in field sobriety tests, she was taken to the Sobering Center where she provided a breath sample that exceeded the legal limit. She was charged with Felony DUII, Reckless Driving and Driving While Suspended. Her car was towed.

The third incident took place on Sunday around 1 a.m. when troopers pulled over a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 24-year-old Austin Michael Hooper on Highland Avenue near Midland Avenue. Troopers said they stopped Hooper for a traffic violation, he showed signs of impairment and performed poorly in sobriety tests. He was taken to the Sobering Center where he provided a breath sample that was nearly three times the legal driving limit. He was charged with DUII and his truck was impounded.

The fourth incident occurred on Sunday at 10:42 p.m. when troopers pulled over a Hyundai Accent driven by 26-year-old Jesus Armando Garcia of Cave Junction on Redwood Highway near East Watkins Street. Troopers said they stopped Garcia for a traffic violation, he showed signs of impairment and performed poorly in sobriety tests. He was taken to the substation where he provided a positive breath sample. He was charged with DUII and released from custody. His car was towed.
