GP Police Incarcerated Motel Guest for Vandalizing Room in North Part of City

Grants Pass Police arrested a man for damaging a north-city motel room over the weekend.

The Police Department reports officers responded to the vandalism incident at Motel 6 on NE 7th Street on Saturday around 10:50 a.m..

Police said the motel manager called 9-1-1 to report that a guest identified as 47-year-old Eric Peter Naumann punched a one-foot hole through a wall, penetrating through to an unoccupied room. The suspect also broke the television, smoke detector and kicked out the outside window of the room.

The motel manager stated there was evidence that Naumann had been burning items in the room. They estimated total damages to be around $5,000.

Eric Naumann was located near the motel a short time later and he was placed into custody. He was booked into the Josephine County Jail on suspicion of Felony 1st-Degree Criminal Mischief. He was also trespassed from the motel.
