Grants Pass Police Snared Man for Failing to Maintain Sex Offender Registration

Grants Pass Police jailed a man for failing to maintain his mandatory sex offender registration after a patrol check at a city park this week.

According to the Police Department, officers contacted 31-year-old Justin Matthew Webber at Riverside Park on Wednesday morning.

Police said they spotted Webber pushing a stolen shopping cart in the park, so they detained him and discovered that he was wanted on Grants Pass and Josephine County warrants for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He was lodged at the Josephine County Jail on the outstanding warrants.

Two additional charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender against Webber were referred to the District Attorney's Office because he failed to register in the past year and he failed to submit his residence, which apparently is Riverside Park.

Webber's personal belongings were logged into evidence for safekeeping and the stolen shopping cart was returned to Walmart.
