GP Police Officers and Firefighters Active in Week Leading Up to Christmas Day

Grants Pass police officers and firefighters were active during the week leading up to the Christmas holiday weekend.

According to the Weekly Report filed by Grants Pass City Manager Aaron Cubic, police officers responded to a total of 651 calls for service along with 252 officer-initiated calls last week that resulted in 60 arrests, 17 citations, 12 warnings and four highly-intoxicated people being lodged at the Sobering Center.

Cubic also reported that officers conducted a total of 70 traffic stops and made 27 referrals to the Oregon Department of Human Services.

The Community Response Team (CRT) made a total of 118 contacts with potential trouble-makers while arresting two people, citing 16 more and warning 58 others. The CRT unit also trespassed 17 individuals, posted 80 new transient camps and removed trash from eight campsites in city parks.

Grants Pass Fire & Rescue responded to a total of 95 calls last week including 43 for emergency medical service, five for reports of fire or smoke, 15 lift assists, 14 rescue situations, one assist to another agency and three false alarms. Firefighters also performed five business inspections, led four education programs, assisted the public six times and properly installed nine child car seats.

The 9-1-1 Dispatch Center fielded a total of 986 emergency calls in addition to 830 calls for non-emergency service.
