GP Police Arrested Man for Breaking into Garage of Acquaintance and Sleeping

Grants Pass Police arrested a man for breaking into the garage of an acquaintance, bedding down and going to sleep early yesterday.

The Police Department reports officers responded to a reported burglary at a home in the 200-block of SW Central Avenue on Friday shortly after 1 a.m..

Police said 44-year-old Danial Bryan Cook broke a window on the garage door to gain access to the dwelling occupied by a man identified as David McDonald. The victim found him and insisted that he did not have permission to be on his property -- even though they spend time together and the suspect contends he was told he could stay at the house anytime he wanted.

McDonald wanted to press charges, so Daniel Cook was placed into custody and lodged at the Josephine County Jail for 2nd-Degree Criminal Mischief and 1st-Degree Criminal Trespass. He was being held without bail.

Jail records show David McDonald was arrested last weekend for Bias Crime and Unlawful Use of a Weapon after he allegedly threatened a black man with a sharp-edged instrument near the Grants Pass Post Office.
