One person was injured when they crashed their vehicle over an embankment in the Fort Vannoy area over the weekend.

Rural Metro Fire Department, American Medical Response and the Josephine County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the single-vehicle rollover wreck in the 3300-block of Lower River Road on Saturday at 9:42 p.m..

Rural Metro officials said arriving units found a vehicle that had overturned and landed approximately 20 feet over an embankment. They said one person was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff's Office was investigating the cause of the crash.

A short time later, another rollover crash was reported to the 9-1-1 Dispatch Center near the intersection of Redwood Highway and Neill Road. Dispatchers said a caller thought they heard a crash and stated that they saw flames and smoke.

Additional units from Rural Metro and AMR rushed to the scene and did not find a crash. Emergency crews found an open burn instead. It was unclear if any citations were issued for burning after dark.
