Shoplifting Call at GP Liquor Store Led to Capture of Felon for Parole Violation

A shoplifting incident at the liquor store in downtown Grants Pass yesterday led to the arrest of a man for violating his post-prison supervision.

According to the Police Department, officers responded to a theft complaint at the OLCC store on SE 8th Street on Tuesday at about 3:55 p.m..

Police said 40-year-old Kyle William Waycott concealed a bottle of whiskey in his pants and left the store without paying for the $16 item. They said he was located about 15 minutes later across the street near A-1 Market & Deli. The partially consumed whiskey was recovered and disposed of. He was placed into custody.

Kyle Waycott was booked into the Josephine County Jail for 3rd-Degree Theft and the resulting Felony Parole Violation. He was being held on a no-bail detainer.
