Medford School Board Concerned over Administrators Raises

Medford School Board member appear unanimous in their concern over recent pay raises for administrators and equally concerned they have no control over the decision.

The board discussed the issue following Superintendent Phil Long’s announcement in August of 6.5 percent raises for the district’s highest paid employee group, retroactive to July 1st.

After the district announced the new compensation plan board members searched for a board policy that would allow them to be involved in the approving the contract changes but realized none existed.

At a Monday meeting nearly every board member expressed concern over the raises, noting the district is facing difficult financial issues.
