Grants Pass Truck Driver Escapes Injury in 3 Vehicle Crash on U.S. 97

Grants Pass Truck driver Deane Howland, 50, escaped injury when a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer side swiped his ‘93’ Peterbilt as it was southbound on Highway 97 32 miles north of Klamath Falls.

About 8:30 Tuesday morning the Trailblazer, being driven north by 63-year old Eunice Bell of Wenatchee, Washington drifted into the south bound lanes hitting Howland’s truck, then continued head-on into a 2009 GMC pickup driven by James Herndon, 79, of Bullhead City, Arizona.

Bell and a five year old boy riding in the back seat were taken by ambulance to Sky Lakes Medical Center with minor injuries. Her passenger in the right front seat, Katrina Lynch, 32, also of Washington was air-evacuated to Sky Lakes with serious injuries.

Herndon was also transported with minor injuries but was wife Mary was taken with serious injuries.

All were wearing safety restraints.
