Serial Abuser Sentenced to 30 Months
Brett Wayne Chancler was sentenced to 30 months in prison on felony charges of fourth degree assault and coercion. Chancler was also found guilty on a harassment charges.
Jackson County Deputy District Attorney Laura Cromwell noted the heavy sentence came from the fact that Chancler is a serial abuser. This is his fourth conviction of domestic violence and his third female victim.
Chancler was arrested in July after locking the victim in a room and beating her over the course of a weekend. Chancler eventually fell asleep, enabling the woman to call 911, which she did from behind a pillow in fear of waking her assailant.
