Council Wades into U.G.B. Questions

The Grants Pass City Council Monday workshop was solely devoted to exploring questions about the Urban Growth Boundary. The council initially found some common ground to agree on, however the areas of contention remain.

The council dealt with the area in the southwest portion of the proposed U.G.B. designated “S”. Council is looking for more options for that area that now carries commercial, plus low, medium and high density residential areas. The council’s concerns are when the area is developed what the impact on infrastructure will be.

Employment areas on the I-5 corridor were not addressed and the council recognized there is still significant work to do and scheduled more U.G.B. discussion for next Monday’s workshop.
