District Seven looks toward building Proficiency Based Grading Team

The Grants Pass School District Seven Board is discussing Proficiency Based Grading at their Tuesday meeting at 4:00 p.m. in the Administration Building at 725 N.E. Dean Drive.

Proficiency Based Grading, part of House Bill 2220 that became Oregon law in May of 2011, asks for school districts to have a plan in place to meet the spirit of the law by July 2013. In order to accomplish this goal, a Proficiency Based Grading District Leadership Team is being created to identify staff concerns about grading, explore grading policies, inform staff about findings, facilitate a consensus regarding grading among staff and seek input from parents.

The board will also discuss the Concussion Management Model, which examines when an athlete is ready to return to play after receiving a concussion or other head injury.
