Pilot Safe After Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing

30-year old Cody Seeger is safe after the helicopter he was flying made an emergency landing in a wooded area Sunday afternoon while returning to its Grants Pass base after a fire fighting mission.

According to a Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy, the Bell Huey started rattling and losing pressure and went down fairly quickly.

The helicopter landed on its side in a forested hillside several miles to the west of Rogue River Drive and pilots reviewing video of the crash site say the aircraft is remarkably intact.

Seeger was airlifted to safety by a second helicopter owned by Brim Aviation. Aside from a tear in his jump suit Seeger was uninjured.
