Historic Butte Falls Ranger’s House for Sale

The Forest Service is selling the historic Butte Falls Ranger’s House. Built in 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the house and detached garage exemplify the “Cascadian/rustic” style of architecture used for Forest Service administrative buildings during the era. The house has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Located on a 0.75 acre parcel, the 2090 square foot residence has three bedrooms, 1 ½ baths and a partially improved basement. The detached garage is 400 square feet.

Sale of the property will be conducted by the Forest Service as a sealed bid auction. The auction will begin October 10, 2012. Interested parties can submit sealed bids in person or by mail to the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, Supervisor’s Office, 3040 Biddle Road, Medford, OR 97504. The bids will be opened at 1 PM November 29, 2012. Bids must be submitted prior to 1 PM to be considered.

The Forest Service will hold two Open Houses for viewing the property. These will be October 19 and 20, 2012 from 10 AM to 3 PM
