Macias Extradited to Medford; Faces Murder Charge

Jose Manuel Macias, 21, is back in Jackson County’s jail on $750,000 bail facing charges of attempted murder, first degree attempted assault and many other charges stemming from what the Medford Police are characterizing as a gang related shooting March 27th at an apartment complex.

Macias pled not guilty to all charges at his arraignment in front of Judge Tim Barnack.

Police initially found only a single shell casing at the crime scene after the shooter, intended victim and all witnesses had fled. A thorough investigation now points to Toby Martinez as the alleged victim and after all the evidence was presented to the grand jury, Macias was indicted as the shooter and an attempted murder warrant was issued.

Fresno, California Police found Macias standing on a street corner, and thanks to a nationwide computer system that tracks suspects Macias was identified and arrested.

He was returned to Medford Wednesday.
