Guilty Verdict Could Land Central Point Man 2 Years
A Jackson County jury found Brett Wayne Chancler, 45, guilty of fourth degree assault and coercion, both felonies and a harassment charge as well.
Chancler was arrested in July after locking his girlfriend in a room and beating her over the course of a weekend. Chancler eventually fell asleep, enabling the woman to call 911, which she did from behind a pillow in fear of waking her assailant.
Chancler has a history of domestic violence involving different women and has had numerous restraining orders placed against him.
A sentencing hear is scheduled for next week and Chancler could be looking at two years hard time.
