Angry Birds are appearing in downtown Grants Pass

Angry Birds, characters from a video game developed by Rovio Entertainment, are appearing in a mural being drawn in downtown Grants Pass as part of this weekend’s Art Along the Rogue celebration.

We Talk Chalk, the company who is creating the mural, will extend the piece 18 feet vertically and 16 feet wide on the wall of Hannah’s Restaurant and the art will also take up a roughly 30 foot by 30 foot space on H Street.

The mural features a slingshot, green pigs and, of course, many Angry Birds. The piece also allows visitors to step into the three dimensional piece of art for photo opportunities.

Melanie Stimmell Van Latum, co-owner of We Talk Chalk, thought her Angry Birds mural design was perfect for Grants Pass, “This is something that is basically new for us in terms of we actually contacted them(Rovio) and said hey we want to do this project and we’re looking for a place to do it. It just so happened that I was scheduled to be the featured artist here in Grants Pass and I thought that may work out so we could put both of the projects together. It did and we’re really excited about it,” Latum said.

Live footage of the murals creation can be viewed at www.livestreetpainting.com and Rovio is set to put a finished photo of the mural on their Facebook page, which has over 21 million likes.
