Medford Streets Awash after Water Main Cracks

A swift stream of water poured into Medford streets at the intersection of Eighth and Fir late Wednesday morning after a main water line cracked, closing Fir Street for about four hours.

The 60 plus year old pipe made of 8 inch cast iron likely cracked because of temperature variations that made the ground shift according to officials with the Medford Water Commission.

No businesses were flooded but the sidewalk in front to 102 North Fir had to dug up to reach the pipe.
