Grieving father needs public's help to locate son's ashes

A grieving father needs help locating his son’s ashes that were apparently lifted by a car thief in the last couple days.

The car, a green 1998 Dodge Neon, contained the child’s ashes in the trunk. The Neon was stolen from the Shari’s Restaurant parking lot at 190 N.E. Agness Ave. in Grants Pass sometime between 3:00 and 6:00 a.m. last Monday.

The vehicle was located in the parking lot of Grants Pass Broadcasting at 888 Rogue River Highway at approximately 10:00 p.m. Tuesday. Employees called police this morning when they realized the vehicle’s presence was unusual and it was confirmed stolen.

Police and the Neon’s owner searched the vehicle but they were unable to locate the ashes.

Michael Townsley, the father of Noah Constantine Townsley whose ashes were in the vehicle, says that he just wants his son back.
Missing urn

The ashes were held inside a light-gray-clay-angel-shaped urn that was placed in a box with the child’s death certificate in the trunk. The urn has Townsley’s name engraved on it.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the ashes or this case should call 541-660-8636 or the Department of Public Safety by dialing 541-450-6260.
