Firefighters prevent blaze from spreading to wild land

Firefighters from Rural Metro Fire Department, Oregon Department of Forestry and Grants Pass Fire Rescue prevented a fire that started at 6:24 p.m. Tuesday in the 2700 block of Pleasant Valley Road from spreading to a nearby business and wild lands.

Rural Metro representative Mike Shaw says the fire started in a semi-tractor that was parked in a private business’s lot. When firefighters arrived the semi-tractor was heavily involved in flames but they managed to bring the fire under control in about 10 minutes.

In total, seven firefighters, two engines and one water tender responded.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
