Admitted Trail Saboteur Still a Jackson County Employee

A psychiatrist who the U.S. Forest Service says admitted to sabotaging Ashland mountain biking trails continues to be employed by Jackson County, at least until the legal process is concluded.

The allegations against Tyler Dempsey, a Mental Health Department psychiatrist, do not label him as unfit for his job. Jackson County Administrator Danny Jordan said he’s still a licensed psychiatrist.

The 57-year old Dempsey admitted in July to stringing nylon cord across mountain biking trails and placing nails and other debris on the trails.

He is charged with fourth degree assault and three counts of reckless endangerment. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 29th.
