$3 Million Grant to Fund Health Care Training at R.C.C.

Rogue Community College has received a $3 million grant from the Department of Labor to develop new health industry specific training, including two-year and less-than one-year certificates, as well as increase the number of students served in existing programs.

The grant enables the college to hire additional faculty and staff, develop new curriculum and training labs to prepare hundreds of students for jobs in the health care industry.

R.C.C. President Peter Angstadt called the grant a milestone for the college and one of the largest commitments in a single grant.

John Osbourn, dean for the School of Health at R.C.C. credited the formation of the Rogue Valley Health Care Workforce Committee, made up of most health care providers in the area, as enabling the college to be competitive for the grant.

R.C.C. was the only Oregon Community College and just one of 27 colleges nationwide to receive an individual grant.
