Jacksonville Land Swap with Motorcycle Riders Close to Done

The long-debated swap and sale of Jacksonville city land to the Motorcycle Riders Association for cash and land that group owns adjacent to the city park will finally come to the city council for a vote following a public hearing Tuesday.

The Jacksonville council entered into a memorandum of understanding with the motorcycle group last December on the details of the sale. The city gains 40 acres with parking improvements and a minimum of $680,000.

The Motorcycle Riders Association will secure 380 acres adjacent to land they already own.

The sale depends on the Association securing a grant from the state’s Park Division Off-Highway Vehicle Fund or other sources.
