Phatty McGee’s Restaurant, formerly Dorman’s, at 6891 Williams Highway in Murphy was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.
Rural Metro Fire Department answered the initial call and immediately issued a second alarm to fight the blaze that consumed at least 60% of the approximately 3500 square foot structure.
Assistance was provided by Grants Pass Fire, Applegate Fire District #9, the Illinois Valley and Rogue River Departments all contributed equipment. At the peak 30 to 35 fire fighters were on the scene supported by eight engines and six water tenders.
There were no injuries reported and investigators were on the scene this morning attempting to find the fire’s origin.
