Woman involved in gunpoint robbery sentenced

Josephine County Circuit Court Judge Pat Wolke sentenced a woman involved in a gunpoint robbery today to three years and three months in prison.

33-year-old Zara Thomas entered a home in the 200 block of Rogue River Avenue on May 17 and along with Elias Ortiz III and Crystal Ann Anders held Destiny Ridenour and Keenan Gardner at gunpoint utilizing Ridenour’s own weapon. The suspects then ransacked the home.

Defense Attorney Mark Hendershott argued that Anders is a former member of a violent motorcycle gang and her influence compelled Thomas to tag along for the robbery.

Thomas pled guilty to delivery of methamphetamine, criminal forfeiture and second-degree robbery. Second-degree robbery is a Measure 11 crime but Judge Wolke enacted the escape hatch which allows for a mitigating sentence when the victim in the case received no significant injury.

Anders is still awaiting sentencing.

Ortiz was sentenced last week to 13 years and four months in prison.
