Ashland Standoff Ends Peacefully with Medford SWAT Help
A missing man referred to by negotiators as Robert, was found trespassing in an empty Ashland home on East Main Street and barricaded himself inside for more than 7 hours Tuesday.
Investigators learned the man had an extensive criminal history that included drugs, assault and battery on a police officer. They closed the streets and evacuated the area and attempted to coax the man out for two hours before requesting assistance from the Medford SWAT team.
SWAT entered the home and took the man into protective custody. He was transported to the Rogue Regional Medical Center about 3:30 p.m.
No one was injured in the incident and criminal charges will be filed at a later date.
