Grant Could Fund Call Center Purchase for RVTD
A $1 million federal grant may allow Rogue Valley Transportation District to purchase a call center it has leased for 11 years, while seeking to improve the center to offer transit options for disabled veterans.
The two story call center on East Barnett Road behind Winco costs $11,640 monthly in lease payments, partially because of the computer technology packed into the building.
Officials say savings from ending the lease payments could be channeled back into other transportation programs.
Another $50,000 grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs could help the center provide transportation for disabled vets who need medical treatment outside the area.
