Saturday at noon thousands of rubber ducks were dumped from the Debbs Potts Bridge into the Rogue River to begin the 10th annual Rogue Duck Derby sponsored by the local Rotary Clubs and the first duck across the finish line had been adopted by Richard Surroz, giving him the Grand Prize, a $15,000 credit toward the purchase or lease of a car from either Lithia, Mocks, Wheeler, Roe, or Jim Sigel.
Loana Coelho of White City won the first prize, a Club Northwest Healthy Living Package worth $2,500. Second prize of a $1,999 Flexsteel custom sofa from Gates Furniture went to Bud Dohm.

It will take at least a week before the officials know the total profit from the Duck Derby but it was announced they are confident they surpassed a net of $88,000. That amount represents over $1 million dollars in donations put right back into the community over 10 years.
