Martial arts instructor sentenced for sexually abusing students
A former martial arts instructor will have to teach his classes in a prison yard after receiving an eight year and nine month prison sentence today for sexually abusing his former underage female students.
The investigation against 27-year-old Jonathan Lee Wilson began after a 13-year-old girl reported that Wilson had sexually abused her in Riverside Park during Boatnik. After the girl reported the incident, three additional girls, ages 13, 15 and 17 who were students at the Burke and Betancourt Taekwondo School located at 220 N.W. 6th St., came forward stating that their instructor, Wilson, had sexually abused them as well.
Wilson pled guilty to four counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree attempted sexual abuse.
