More jail beds? Tomorrow

The Josephine County Commissioners have scheduled to sign an order at Thursday’s administrative meeting that will increase the jail bed capacity by 39 beds allowing for a total of 99 inmates.

The order will establish the maximum number of inmates, determine emergency jail population and a plan for resolving emergencies.

The Sheriff’s Office has hired two out of the three employees needed to staff the increased inmate population and Sheriff Gil Gilbertson says the third will likely be hired Friday.

Once the order is signed the jail capacity will increase immediately.

The Commissioner’s administrative meeting is held at 9:00 a.m. in the BCC Conference Room in the Courthouse.
