County Commissioners Consider UGB Options & Question R.A.C. Monies

Josephine County Commissioners quickly went through their agenda at the Wednesday Business Session to the final item, Matters from Commissioners.

There was discussion about the Urban Growth Boundary meeting with Harold Haugen saying he was disappointed that city staff was letting “cost guide how things were going to be and that’s not the way it’s supposed to be. Go ahead and plan.” Haugen went on to say property owners shouldn’t be in or out of the UGB based on cost pointing out regardless of the location, if there isn’t enough money the project would not be funded.

Commissioner Haugen also made the Commissioners aware the S.R.S. funds allocated to the Rogue Umpqua Research Advisory committee, R.A.C., dedicated to the Medford Tanker base to fund fire suppression in the Valley had been moved to the Siskiyou Rogue R.A.C. with no notice to Josephine County and that R.A.C. is negotiating with the Oregon State Police to patrol their roads in this county.

Those committees are meeting this week and Haugen say the situation should be clear by the end of the week.
