Fire destroys home on Haylees Drive

Fire destroyed a home at 416 Haylees Drive Tuesday afternoon causing an estimated $60,000 in damage.

A neighbor reported the fire and made efforts to extinguish the blaze utilizing garden hoses to no avail.

Firefighters arrived on scene at 4:16 p.m. to find the deck entirely engulfed in flames and fire spreading throughout the doublewide manufactured home’s attic crawl space. Crews managed to douse the blaze in approximately 45 minutes but the home will likely be considered a total loss.

22 firefighters, four engines and two water tenders from Rural Metro, the Oregon Department of Forestry and Grants Pass Fire Rescue responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
