Thief Burns Hawaiian Sisters After Break-In
At 6:32 Friday morning the Grants Pass Fire Department was called to 263 Rogue River Highway following a report of smoke coming from the business, Hawaiian Sisters.
Fire fighters discovered a smoldering fire in the back room that was quickly extinguished.
Fire fighters observed a roof vent had been removed and police detectives investigated the break-in and subsequent arson and concluded a thief made a forced entry through the vent, stole a large amount of lottery tickets and fled after breaking out the front window.
The fire had been intentionally set in the back room. The heat melted a water line which extinguished the majority of the fire.
