Three G.P. Men Jailed on Weapons & Drug Charges

Three Grants Pass men were jailed last night on firearms, drug and resisting arrest charges following an incident on Bridge Street shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Bridge near Laurel after a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the area.

When officers arrived two men, Jacob Coates and Levi Farnsworth were seen leaving the vehicle with one carrying a rifle. Farnsworth ran south to Rogue River Avenue and was not immediately located. Officers returned to the vehicle to see Coates holding a nylon rifle case. He dropped it and ran but was quickly apprehended.

The investigation revealed Farnsworth drove Coates to the location where he delivered the rifle to 921 Bridge Street, the home of Jason Vasquez who had felony warrant outstanding. Vasquez attempted to hide by lying down on the roof, but eventually surrendered.

The incident drew a crowd and officers observed Farnsworth among the bystanders. He was approached, refused to comply with officers and was tased creating a civil disruption that was quelled with the help of a Police K9.

A total of two handguns, three rifles, and small quantities of meth and heroin were seized plus a chainsaw and jewelry, all suspected as stolen property from the burglary ring dismantled by police in July.
