Happy Veterans Day -- Plenty of Local Resources Available to Military Veterans

On this Veterans Day, the Grants Pass Broadcasting Corporation (KAJO and KLDR Radio) wants to be sure our military veterans know there are plenty of resources available to them locally.

The largest local resource available to vets in Southern Oregon is the Veterans Administration Center & Clinics in White City. It provides a wide range of services including traditional hospital-based services such as surgery, critical care, mental health, orthopedics, pharmacy, radiology and physical therapy.

The Josephine County Veterans Service Office is located at 500 NW 6th Street at the Courthouse in Grants Pass. The office is available for walk-ins on Mondays from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m.. Services are also available to veterans on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays by appointment.

The local veterans service office conducts outreach hours at the Illinois Valley Family Coalition on the first Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m..

The Grants Pass Vet Center is located at 211 SE 10th Street and is open Monday through Friday. Vet Centers provide a broad range of counseling, outreach and referral services to combat veterans and their families.

Rogue Community College and Southern Oregon University both offer Veterans Resource centers. They assist veterans and their families in pursuing their educational, professional and vocational objectives.

Other local resources available to military veterans include United Community Action Network in Grants Pass, WorkSource Oregon in both Grants Pass and Medford, Rogue Valley Veterans and Community Outreach in Medford, and the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs at 1-(800)-827-1000.

Happy Veterans Day -- we thank you for your service to our country!
