Rural Metro Crews Extinguish Two Vehicle Fires on Demaray Drive Within 12 Hours

Authorities were looking for the driver of a sport utility vehicle that caught on fire near the Redwood Campus of Rogue Community College early today.

Shortly before 6 o'clock this morning, Rural Metro Fire Department responded to a fully-involved SUV in the 3600-block of Demaray Drive.

The vehicle was on the side of the road, but posed no threat to nearby homes. No driver was located and the cause of the fire was undetermined.

According to Rural Metro Division Chief Austin Prince, it was the second vehicle fire on Demaray Drive in the last day. The fires occurred within a quarter-mile of each other and were about 12 hours apart.

At this point, Prince said there doesn't appear to be any connection other than pure coincidence.
